Why learn something new?
Learning something new that interests you (that is not a requirement) can be very beneficial to your mental and emotional well-being. Along with expanding your intellectual capacity, depending on what you chose to study, it can help you make educated changes in your life that will have substantial effects on health.
Challenge Insights
There are a wide variety of things that you can do to learn something new, including:
- Listening to an informative podcast.
- Watching an educational video/movie.
- Reading a non-fiction book.
- Sit and speak with a qualified individual and have an in-depth conversation while asking probing questions.
The options of what you can learn or research are nearly limitless to have a positive effect on the mind, including, but not limited to:
- Nutritional facts and how different foods are processed in the body and what effects they carry with them.
- Exercise science: different methods of exercising, kinesiology (the study of movement), the science of muscle recovery, exercise physiology, etc.
- Nontraditional methods of well-being such as; sauna, cold-plunge, sensory deprivation, meditation, nature isolation. Study the benefits each of these have, and maybe even try them out!
- Learn/practice a new skill that you can apply to your favorite hobby.
Learning or practicing something new can not only expand your knowledge, but can also get you out of your normal routine. You may realize that just because you’ve done something one way for a long time doesn’t mean there may not be a way to do things better/more efficient. This applies in all aspects of life.
You should always keep expanding the knowledge of; your body, your health/well-being, your hobbies, your surroundings, your planet, etc. to be the best version of yourself.
